Top 10 Tips To Help You Stop Feeling Run Down

You could be feeling run down for any number of reasons.  You probably already know that taking care of your body is important to maintain vitality and health.  Sickness, stress, daily routines and age all affect your energy level.  Of course, fatigue will happen from time to time but it does not have to be a constant occurrence.  Below are 10 tips to recharge your batteries and prevent you from feeling rundown.

  1. Hold The Caffeine – One morning cup of coffee is not, for the most part, decreasing your vitality.  However, those that rely on caffeine to keep them going from morning until night are more likely to feel sluggish when the caffeine wears off and end up having a hard time getting motivated in the morning.
  1. Skip The Sugar – If you are feeling rundown, take a look at your sugar intake.  Although sugar gives you instant energy, after a few hours you will feel much more tired.  Sugar also plays a huge part in weight fluctuations which can also tamper with your energy levels.
  1. Consider Supplements – Even if you partake in a healthy diet and lifestyle, you can benefit from nutritional supplements.  Cloudy weather, cigarette smoke and pollution can all decrease the vitamins in your system.  In a perfect world you would get an adequate amount of sunshine to provide you with vitamin D and never be exposed to pollution or cigarette smoke but until that happens, consider adding a vitamin to your morning routine.
  1. Exercise – If you are feeling rundown, sometimes even a short walk can help.  Of course you may feel tired and like you do not even have the energy to put your shoes on but after you get going you will feel so much better.  It is no surprise or secret that people that exercise regularly have much higher energy levels throughout the day over those that don't.
  1. Sleep Tight – With today's busy schedules it is easy to get sleep deprived once in awhile.  Your body recharges and resets all of its functions while you are sleeping so if you are not giving it adequate time to do so, it will result in you feeling rundown throughout the day.
  1. Food Allergies – Many people have food sensitivities and allergies that they are not even aware of.  Symptoms can often be very subtle and just cause you to be a bit lethargic.  Take note if you are getting tired after eating certain foods.
  1. Keep A Journal – It can be helpful when you are feeling rundown, to keep a journal.  Keeping track of your lifestyle, sleeping patterns and foods that you eat can help you to pinpoint exactly what the underlying cause is that is making you so incredibly tired.
  1. Take A Vacation – You do not need to spend a ton of money or take an exotic vacation to reap the benefits of a little rest and relaxation.  Many people take time off of work only to spend it cleaning out the garage or working on home repairs.  Take a day or two and just relax.  Drive out to the country or go read a book in the park under a tree.  Just give yourself a little quality alone time and you may be surprised at how refreshed you feel after.
  1. Quit Smoking – Of course, you probably already know all of the primary reasons to quit smoking but here is one more.  After you have a cigarette, your lungs are covered in chemicals and tar that blocks oxygen from properly making its way through your body causing you to feel tired.
  1. Pass On The Alcohol – Having an occasional cocktail or a great night out once in awhile is one thing but drinking too much and too often is guaranteed to leave you feeling rundown.  After you consume alcohol, your body has to work to eliminate all of the toxins.  It interferes with your sleep cycle, not allowing you to get the necessary REM sleep that you need to rest properly and you are left dehydrated which causes fatigue as well.
